ABSTRACT:
A new simple High Performance Thin Layer Chromatographic (HPTLC) method for determination of Spironolactone and Torsemide in combined tablet dosage form has been developed and validated. The mobile phase selected was n-Hexane: Ethyl acetate: Methanol: Glacial acetic acid (7: 3: 1.5: 0.5 v/v/v) with UV detection at 263 nm. The retention factor for SPL and TSM were found to be 0.67 ± 0.03 and 0.34 ± 0.03. The method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision and robustness. Results found to be linear in the concentration range of 100-1000 ng/band for SPL and TSM respectively. The method has been successfully applied for the analysis of drugs in pharmaceutical formulation. The % assay (Mean ± S.D.) was found to be 99. 75 ± 0.134 for SPL and 98.67 ± 0.153 for TSM.
