ABSTRACT:
A simple visible spectrophotometric method has been developed for the estimation of abacavir sulphate in bulk and tablet dosage form. This method is based on the diazotization of abacavir sulphate with nitrous acid to form diazotized abacavir sulphate, followed by its coupling with ß-naphthol to form a red coloured chromogen which shows maximum absorption at 574.0nm and obeys Beer’s law in the concentration range of 5-20mcg/ml. This method was validated for precision, accuracy, ruggedness and robustness. Statistical analysis proves that the method is reproducible and selective for the estimation of said drug.
