ABSTRACT:
The present work is aimed to formulate and evaluate floating tablets of Captopril for its physicochemical properties and in-vitro buoyancy studies using an effervescent approach for gastro retentive drug delivery system. Captopril effervescent floating tablets were developed direct compression technique in nine different formulations (F1 to F9) by employing different grades of polymers HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M and HPMC K100M and effervescent agents such as sodium bicarbonate. Formulation F5 containing HPMC K15M showed good Buoyancy lag time of 120. And it remained float for more than 12 hr in the release medium.
