ABSTRACT:
Cyperus rotundus L. or Mustaka is a perennial weed found in the tropical and subtropical parts of the world. It belongs to the plant family Cyperaceae. The grass is widely known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune modulating properties. Phenols and tannins are usually the major plant compounds that contribute towards the antioxidant activity. This study focuses on the total phenol content and the total tannin content of the plant and searches into its medicinal potency based on the total phenol and total tannin content.
