ABSTRACT:
Pushyanuga churna is a poly herbal powder containing 26 plant medicine in combination with 1 part each. It is used in the treatment of women disorders as a uterine tonic which regularizes the menstrual flow. The present work involves the formulation of Pushyanuga churna as tablets to increase the stability as single unit dosage form and to mask the bitter taste of the powder. Tamarind seed polysaccharide (TSP) is used as the binder which is isolated from the kernel seeds of tamarind. The tablets are prepared by wet granulation technique. The formulation is optimized by changing the concentration of TSP binder as the variable. The powder and granules are evaluated for pre-formulation parameters and optimized for tablet compression. The formulated tablets are evaluated for the physical parameters. The microbial load and XRF studies done on the optimized tablets proved the stability, sterility and standard limits of the metal ions concentration in the formulation.
