ABSTRACT:
Acacia catechu which is well known by its common names black cutch, black catechu, khadira is commonly found in India, China, Asia and Indian Ocean areas. It is widely used in Ayurveda for management of various diseases and mainly for skin diseases. Most of the people in Kerala use boiled Khadira water (karingali water) for drinking purpose. Acacia catechu is highly valuable for its powerful astringent and antioxidant activities. It is useful in dental, oral, throat infections and also as an astringent for reducing oozing from chronic ulcers and wounds. The aim of the article is to compile the role of Acacia catechu in dental practice and its efficacy in management of root canal failure.
