ABSTRACT:
Aqueous extract from Azadirachta indica leaves was used for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (NPs). UV-visible spectrometry, and particle size analysis confirmed formation of silver NPs of 10-100 nm in size. Transmission electron microscopic observation and X-ray diffraction data showed that spherical particles were crystalline in nature with an average crystallite size of 24 nm. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic analysis showed efficient capping of the NPs by the phytochemicals present in the leaf extract. NPs showed good antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and potent anti-inflammatory activity at very low concentration, for PBMC and RAW264.7 cells as well as anti-proliferative activity against HT29 cell line.
