ABSTRACT:
Round ligament is a ligament that extends from the lateral uterus to the labia major, including arteries, veins, lymph nodes and nerve. Round ligament varicositis or RLV is a rare medical condition, signifying the presence of prominent veins in the ligament, mostly during pregnancy. RLV, quite similar to an inguinal hernia, often emerges as a soft, reducible, without tenderness mass is quite visible in standing position and difficult to discern in supine position; this similarity in emergence makes RLV easily confused with obstructive inhomogeneous hernia, as a result, causing an unnecessary surgery during pregnancy. The present paper analyzed a one-way RLV case in the right indigenous area with release to the labia major along with the varicose vein thrombosis. Color Doppler ultrasound is a precise diagnostic method to exclude all other possible diagnosis and confirm the detection of RLV. Therefore, the use of doppler sonography can be very important in preventing unnecessary surgery, especially in pregnant women.
