ABSTRACT:
Objective: The aim of the study is to compare the effectiveness of the Kegel exercises and Pilates in subjects with urinary incontinence during pregnancy. Background of The Study: Urinary incontinence is the loss of bladder control that results in the leakage of urine. It is a serious issue to be considered as it may result in discomfort and it may lead to psychological stress. Urinary incontinence is widely present among pregnant women. The stress urinary incontinence is commonest among the pregnant women. Methodology: 30 samples were selected. Pregnant women in the second trimester with urinary incontinence, between the age group of 21-25 were included. The outcome measure tool is QUID (Questionnaire for urinary incontinence diagnosis) and UDI-6 (Urogenital Distress Inventory Short form). Result: On comparing the pre and post values of QUID and UDI-6 for both groups the t- value for pre-as (-1.740), (1.784) and post as (9.729), (8.093) from this data Group-B shows statistically highly significant in reducing the frequency of urine leakage, where p values are (<0.001). Conclusion: The frequency of urine leakage has decreased in subjects from both the groups. But there is highly significant in reduction of urine leakage in subjects who performed Pilates exercise than those who did Kegels exercise. the Pilates is more effective in reducing the frequency of urine leakage in women during pregnancy.
