ABSTRACT:
Due to human cultural evolution cosmetics have been integral since ancient times now more people seek natural organic cosmetic formulations in modern market trends. A growing worldwide interest in safer and sustainable products poses an industry shift toward multifunctional cosmetic solutions. Personal care products that contain biologically active ingredients constitute the leading industry segment known as cosmoceuticals. The commonly used lip balm formulation serves two purposes: it enhances lip appearance through aesthetic enhancement while supporting health benefits through moisture retention and environmental defense and promoting wrinkle-free delivery of healthier plump lips. The use of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in typical lip care products raises important health problems because these heavy metals present dangerous health risks so research into safer alternative products is required. The study created an herbal lip balm from natural components where Portulaca grandiflora extract from floral and leaf substance served as the main medicinal element. The plant extract demonstrates strong antioxidant behavior while also providing antibacterial properties with anti-inflammatory capabilities and clarifying effects appropriate for treating both eczematous cheilitis and lip burns. The natural coloring component Beta vulgaris (beetroot) provided a purplish-red appearance with betalains and polyphenols and inorganic nitrates establishing the recipient's nutritional and aesthetic properties. The developed lip balm received quality and functional evaluations through several examination steps. Organoleptic evaluation inspected both physical qualities and aesthetics while functional assessment measured spreadability with tests for thermal stability through the melting point range and evaluations of pH equilibrium and adhesive properties between applications. The research confirmed that the herbal lip balm satisfied all important evaluation standards which established it as a risk-free and effective product for consumers. The research shows how herbal lip balms present options for innovative sustainable products in the cosmoceutical market space. The combination of Portulaca grandiflora and Beta vulgaris fulfills therapeutic requirements while meeting current market standards for aesthetics. The research demonstrates the necessity of incorporating natural components into cosmetic products to deliver both safe operation and environmentally friendly solutions and effective results. Additional clinical trials with consumer studies should be conducted to extend the usage capacity and market acceptance of novel natural cosmeceutical formulations.
