ABSTRACT:
The objective of the present study was to develop and evaluate a simple and reliable UV-spectrophotometric method for the quantification of Cabotegravir, an antiretroviral drug. Cabotegravir exhibited maximum absorbance at 257 nm using methanol as the solvent, with a linear concentration range of 2–12 µg/ml. The proposed method was optimized and validated in accordance with ICH guidelines for parameters including linearity and range, robustness, specificity, sensitivity, ruggedness, and precision, with all results meeting the acceptance criteria. The method demonstrated excellent specificity, selectivity, linearity, precision, robustness, and repeatability, with percent RSD values below 2%. This novel analytical approach is straightforward, reproducible, and reliable, making it suitable for routine quality control analysis of pure Cabotegravir and its pharmaceutical formulations in the industry.
