ABSTRACT:
orthokeratinised odontogenic cyst is a rare developmental odontogenic cyst that microscopically has an orthokeratinised epithelial lining and clinically has a less- aggressive behaviour and low recurrence. This case report describes a case of orthokeratinised odontogenic cyst involving posterior part of the mandible that mimicked dentigerous cyst in a 25-year-old-male who presented with a chief complaint of swelling and severe trismus. The initial diagnosis was given as pericoronitis with submandibular space infection based on the clinical findings, later it was provisionally diagnosed as Dentigerous cyst based on the radiological findings. A definitive diagnosis made as orthokeratinised odontogenic cyst only after histopathological examination of excised biopsy specimen. This case emphases on including orthokeratinised odontogenic cyst in the differential diagnosis of dentigerous cyst and trismus.
