ABSTRACT:
Plants are reach source of verity of natural active chemical that utilized to prevent various illnesses. These bioactive compounds are abundant in the leaves, stems, flowers, fruits, and roots of plants. These natural substances have been used for prevention and treatment of diseases since ancient time. Sida cordata is an herbaceous, medicinal plant weed. The primary objectives of this study was determine the anti-oxidant potential besides the total phenolic content and total flavonoids content of different extract of plant S. cordata. The plant extraction was performed using water and acetic acid by sonication. Alkaloids, glycosides, phenolic compounds, flavonoid and tannins were present in both acetic acid and water extract. TPC and TFC were determined by standard as gallic acid and folin catechu reagent. The total phenolic content and total flavonoids content were high for both extracts are 257.07±1.89mg GAE/g, 199.14±1.14mg QE/g and 220.73±1.41mg GAE/g, 169.72±0.99 mg QE/g. Using DPPH , the antioxidant activity was also identified and the percentage of inhibition was determined. The highest percentage of inhibition for acetic acid extract and water extract were 67.18±12.10 % and 71.81±3.16% respectively.
