ABSTRACT:
Background: Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (AITD) is a prevalent thyroid disorder affecting women of reproductive age and poses significant health risks, especially during pregnancy. Early diagnosis is crucial as symptoms are often absent in the initial phase. Traditional thyroid hormone level measurements are insufficient to detect autoimmunity. This study investigates a rapid diagnostic test for AITD, focusing on Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Receptor (TSHR) antibodies as potential markers. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of the TPO-TSHR detection kit for AITD. Elevated levels of TPO and TSHR antibodies correlate with disease activity and adverse fetal outcomes during pregnancy. Methods: The study, conducted at Universitas Brawijaya Hospital, utilized a TPO-TSHR Rapid Test in comparison to an ELISA kit as the gold standard. There were 44 patients with AITD, and 41 normal patients participated in the study. Results: For the TPO rapid test, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were 92%, 91%, 82%, and 96%, respectively. For TSHR rapid test, these were 95%, 100%, 100%, and 80%, respectively. Conclusion: Results indicate the potential diagnostic value of the TPO-TSHR detection kit, offering an efficient and cost-effective tool for early AITD detection, even in remote areas, with implications for improving maternal and fetal health.
