ABSTRACT:
Cancer patients’ quality of life is greatly impacted by chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), which makes the development of quick-acting antiemetic medications necessary. Development and assessment of a fast-dissolving nanofiber film of Ondansetron HCl (ODN) is the main objective of this work, a 5HT3 receptor blocker, using the electrospinning technique. The electrospun nanofiber film was designed to enhance the dissolution rate and solubility of ODN, ensuring rapid therapeutic action. The nanofiber film was analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and attenuated total reflectance fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), confirming uniform fiber morphology, thermal stability, and drug-polymer compatibility. The in vitro dissolution studies demonstrated that the nanofiber film achieved near-complete drug release and significantly faster than conventional. This novel fast-dissolving dosage form of ODN holds promise as a more effective treatment option for managing CINV.
