ABSTRACT:
Background: Swarnaprashana (SP) is an Ayurvedic formulation believed to enhance immunity, cognitive function, and overall health in children. This study aimed to evaluate the perceived effects of SP on general well-being, health status, and behavioural changes in children. Methods: A retrospective survey was conducted among parents/guardians of children who underwent SP. Data on adverse effects, general health, mental health, respiratory infections, school performance, and dietary habits were collected and analysed. Results: Out of 216 respondents, the majority (90.7%) reported no adverse effects. Significant improvements were noted in general health (56.5%), reduced frequency of illness (42.1%), and better weight/height gain (12.5%). Mental health improvements included reduced impulsivity (8.8%) and anger (10.6%). School performance and dietary habits improved in 52.3% and 48.1% of cases, respectively. Conclusion: Swarnaprashana appears to be safe and beneficial for children, with perceived improvements in health, immunity, and behaviour. Further controlled studies are needed to validate these findings.
